We are excited to announce that this year we have decided to host the 2022 Bull City Yoga Festival as an in-person event. We will, however, out of an abundance of caution and for the health of the community, practice social distancing and request that participants wear masks. We feel this is the best decision given the current situation with the pandemic.
The tentative date for the 5th Annual Bull City Yoga Festival is Friday, October 7, 2022, and Saturday, October 8, 2022. Per our tradition, we will prioritize the inviting of teachers from the BIPOC community to lead the event and offer accessible classes for practitioners of all ages.
Here at Bull City Yoga Festival, we are a collective of yoga instructors committed to increasing the accessibility of yoga while also celebrating the diversity of the yoga community in Durham.
Our signature event is a yoga festival that highlights the instruction of BIPOC yoga teachers and warmly welcomes all in the area to experience the health benefits of yoga, meditation, and mind-body practices. In 2020 our once live event shifted into the virtual space where it remained a truly inclusive, inspiring, and unique event. In addition to featuring the leadership of Black yoga teachers and offering sessions on family yoga and yoga for seniors, participants came from as far as California and the African continent.
We could not have made this transition without the support of friends like you, and we are truly grateful for those who have helped in the past to make the event possible. A portion of the admission proceeds from that event was donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, helping to provide food to the unprecedented number of families in Durham facing hunger due to the pandemic. Thanks to the overwhelming support from the Durham local community and from attendees around the country and the world, we were able to give $500 to the Food Bank in 2020 and in 2021 we donated to the Durham Community Health Coalition in the amount of $500.
Your participation helps us not only provide a platform for the wonderful teachers of Durham and North Carolina but helps to further a welcoming and diverse and inclusive yoga experience where everyone feels invited to heal as a community.
